Position: Backend Systems & DevOps Engineer

Location: Udaipur (Rajasthan)

Commitment: Minimum 10 hours/week

Role Responsibilities

• Design sandboxed, terminal-based environments that simulate real-world backend and DevOps workflows.
• Create reproducible tasks involving service debugging, configuration fixes, deployment issues, and infrastructure failures.
• Build scenarios covering log analysis, CI/CD failures, monitoring alerts, and misconfigurations.
• Simulate full-stack service environments using containers, microservices, and orchestration tools.
• Collaborate with AI engineers to define task specifications, reward functions, difficulty tiers, and performance metrics.
• Implement systems for automated environment resets, benchmark versioning, and task automation.
• Scale challenges from basic operational issues to complex multi-service failures, rollbacks, scaling events, and security missteps.

Requirements

• Background in backend engineering, DevOps, or site reliability engineering (SRE).
• Proficiency with Linux, Bash scripting, and terminal-based workflows.
• Experience with CI/CD pipelines, containerized systems (Docker, Kubernetes), and cloud platforms (AWS, GCP, or Azure).
• Strong understanding of backend architecture components such as databases, APIs, message queues, and monitoring stacks.
• Experience building or maintaining automated deployments, observability pipelines, or infrastructure-as-code systems.
• Ability to debug system failures, service crashes, configuration errors, and infrastructure bottlenecks.
• Interest in designing terminal-based environments to evaluate autonomous agent reasoning, automation, and recovery.
• Comfortable working independently with a strong sense of ownership.
